Let’s start off right!
Father God, we just want to say thank you! Thank you for revelation, inspiration and dedication. We ask that you bless the eyes that come upon these words, give them a heart to receive, a mind to understand and the intentions to do something about it. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. Amen.
“Good things come to those who WAIT.”
Wow! If you’re like me much prayer and supplication is needed in this regard. Telling me to wait is like telling me I need a root canal. It’s like the cringe of fingernails going across a blackboard. I literally cringe at the word. I’m the one who loves food but if that line is too long I’m getting off. If I’m online shopping and you tell me it will take a week to arrive; I will waste a week trying to find another place that will get it to me sooner. Yes, my name is Lady G and I have 99 problems and patience is every single one. I’m sure one might equate that in layman’s terms as being resolute or one who is adamant about things. I just call it a woman who has been used to getting her way most of her life. Tomato Tamato.
However, right or wrong, I am a woman of God who stands on the word of God. Which means He whips me most of the time. Can’t call ACS or DYFS on the Father. I must say, when I look back over my life, when I’ve had no choice but to wait I was very pleased with the outcome.
Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart; wait I say, on the Lord.” 2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Romans 12:12 “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
It is my belief that anything worth having is worth fighting for! You know growing up in the church I always would hear “The race is not given to the swift, neither to the strong but to those who endure to the end”. I heard it so much, I thought it was scripture. Well technically it is and technically it’s not. Tomato Tamato. In Ecclesiastes 9:11, it does say….the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong…. but, where did the people of God get “those who endure to the end”? Well, I would concur with 2 Peter 3:8 “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” so to me you just have to keep going and see what the end is going to be.
The definition of wait… is to stay where one is or delay action until a particular time or until something else happens. It can also be used to indicate that one is eagerly impatient to do something or for something to happen.
The biblical meaning of wait is a whole nother article because between the differentiation between the greek and use of the word let’s just say there’s a lot to talk about.
Waiting on the Lord-
Psalms 27:14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
The waiting room, a place where time seemingly stands still. It is a place where life seems like it’s been put on hold, but unbeknownst to us, God is yet working behind the scenes.
If you’re not careful while waiting on the Lord, you will become fidgety, fearful, frustrated, anxious and even angry.
Waiting involves an expectation of something special. Waiting means anticipation, expectation, confident hope in something that will take place. There are things that make the wait easier and that is the knowledge of the word and the trust that it will come to pass.
What am I to do during the waiting process?
Do I sit back and do nothing? Yes and No! You seek the Lord, spend time in the word seeking answers and claiming God’s promises; time in prayer praying about the issues; praying for wisdom and discernment; time meditating on who God is, what He is wanting to do in us and through us, and on what we need to do by way of answers and direction.
Waiting involves taking action at the right time. Waiting involves resting in God’s timing. Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”.
Waiting means resting in God’s timing while taking care of our responsibilities- the things we can do and should do as set forth in the Word of God.
On the other hand we are to rest and be still. Not run ahead of the Lord and take matters into our own hands and turn to our own human strategies.
Waiting means trusting in God and his goodness.
No one can wait on the Lord if he or she does not truly trust in God as the rock of their strength and refuge in all of life. Waiting means claiming God’s promises by faith and resting in what God is doing in our lives so we can faithfully follow God’s principles and keep His values, priorities, and pursuits.
The opposite of waiting and resting by faith is turning to our solutions of self-protection because of anger, fear and jealousy. We fret, we moan and groan, we withdraw or run from the problem. We may try to control others, call attention to ourselves against the comments of others. Out of fear of failure or loss, we may compromise our convictions or what we know is right. But fear, which has displaced faith in the Lord, causes us to lean on the arm of the flesh.
Waiting involves taking the right action. Waiting involves learning to be content with God’s provision and timing. Every time we encounter one of the variegated problems of life, we are faced with a very important choice – to look up and wait, or focus on the problem and choose our own strategy – to worry, to run away, throw in the towel, or run ahead of the Lord.
When we react rather than respond by waiting (seeking, trusting, focusing, praying), we suffer various kinds of serious consequences. It is the law of sowing and reaping.
Waiting strengthens and builds character.
Starting today, walk by your REVELATION and not your situation. Don’t walk by what you see but walk by what God said. Walk by faith and not by sight.
Faith is not faith without the evidence that you believe!
Good things come to those who wait and your wait will soon be over!
In His Name,
Lady G
